As a great lover & supporter of wines from his home state, The Victorian range of wines offers Sam Plunkett the opportunity to showcase wines from around the state of Victoria. Also, in the tradition of the Victorian era, they allow him to engage inventiveness & new technologies in his winemaking. These wines are made to highlight regional character & to be enjoyed with food.

Cabernet Sauvignon 

2014

Blackcurrent and spiced aroma, this wine feels rich and warm, with a chocolatey flavour on the palate.

2010

Blackcurrant and red currant with some green peppercorn or minty notes, and also spicy oak notes.  Full bodied with grainy tannins.  Well balanced and good length of flavour.

Cabernet Shiraz

Blackcurrant with some menthol and eucalyptus notes. Some spicy oak evident on the nose.  A full-bodied red with some drying grainy tannins, but not aggressive.

Chardonnay

Citrus and peachy Chardonnay fruit flavours, plus complex wine ferment notes, and some oak also evident.  This wine has the ‘lacy’ texture of high quality Chardonnay. It is beautifully balanced and has great length of flavour.

Pinot Gris     <<GOLD MEDAL>>

Pears and spice on the nose.  The wine is well balanced and has the appealing softness typical of Pinot Gris, along with a delicate talcy texture.

Savagnin   << GOLD MEDAL>>

2015

Pale straw in colour, and citrus spice aroma. The palate is crisp and refreshing, there is a citrus zest texture which gives the wine character and zip.

Citrus and spice on the nose.  On the palate the wine is zesty and refreshing. There is an appealing ‘pithy’ texture which adds complexity and helps make the wine a versatile match with food.

Shiraz – Glenrowan

Liquorice and blackberry with some spice and a chocolaty oak flavour.  The wine is full bodied, warm and rich with extended length of flavour.

Shiraz – Strathbogie 

2014

Red fruit and blueberry flavours with a sweet spicy note – partly due to the time spent in oak and also that spice is a feature of Strathbogie Shiraz. This rich full bodied wine has velvety tannin with an air of elegance.

  2013  <<GOLD MEDAL>>

Aromatics of blueberry and spice, including pepper.  Toasty oak.  This is a well balanced full-bodied Shiraz with a cool-climate grip and structure, and extended length of flavour.

Cabernet Merlot 

2014

This wine is a blend of almost 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Cabernet gives the wine it’s blackcurrent note and some drying powdery tannins. The Merlot adds fruitcake and spice. This medium bodied wine has a lovely velvety palate.
