The grapes were grown at the Booroola Vineyard East of Avenel in the Strathbogie Ranges.
2022 was a coolish growing season, which gives the wine a lovely brightness and freshness. We picked the primitivo on March 19th, destemmed and crushed the grapes into a 13 tonne fermenter. We inoculated with a pure yeast culture NDA21. This is a southern Italian isolate and good with high sugar fruit like Primitivo! Being unoaked and from a coolish season the wine shows a lovely brightness and freshness.

'On paper, it looks high-ish in alcohol. In the glass, not so much. Indeed, this unoaked primitivo (aka zinfandel) is medium bodied, lifted, aromatic and nicely proportioned to the point of elegance. Red fruits, bramble and dried raspberry work hand in hand with sage and spice to present a wine that asks for no more than to be accompanied by a plate of charcuterie.'-
