The Victorian Rose

2025 Mid Strength Primitivo Rose 

A primitivo-based rosé with plenty of sass, freshness and personality with only 7.5% alcohol volume and only 4.4 standard drinks which means its lighter on the head. Salmon pink colour, restrained aromatics of red apple and wild strawberry. On the palate the wine has a fresh and bright tasting mid strength Rose.

The grapes were grown on Carrillo Gartners Booroola vineyard, in the cool Strathbogie Ranges of Central Victoria. We kept the juice in contact with the red primitivo grape skins just long enough to pick up the palest pink colour, and went on to make the full strength parent wine in the normal way. Then just before bottling we used an amazing machine to remove some of the alcohol. It works at low pressure and cool temperature to help preserve the lovely wild strawberry and red apple flavours of the parent wine, and gives us this bright, refreshing and tasty mid-strength rose.
